About ChunkScout
A seed toolkit built around one map instead of twenty pages.
ChunkScout started from a simple frustration: to plan a world you had to open a village finder, then a stronghold finder, then a slime finder, and stitch the results together in your head. We wanted the whole picture on one screen — with dark mode, on a phone, without an account.
How it works
Minecraft’s world generation is deterministic: given a seed, edition and version, the game always produces the same biomes and structure positions. ChunkScout runs a port of that generation logic (the open-source cubiomes library) compiled to WebAssembly, inside Web Workers in your browser. Your device does the maths, which is why the map feels instant and why nothing about your world has to be uploaded.
Bedrock support is layered on top: biomes share the Java generator from 1.18 onwards, slime chunks use Bedrock’s own algorithm, and structure placement is implemented per structure type. Where a Bedrock algorithm isn’t finished we show a “Java only” badge instead of guessing.
Accuracy policy
- Exact — same algorithm as the game; positions match in-game.
- Approximate — may be off by a few blocks or a chunk (e.g. terrain-dependent placements).
- Java only — valid for Java Edition only.
- Beta — new and still being verified.
Features the engine can’t simulate yet (dungeons, caves, ravines, ore veins, fossils) are left out rather than faked. They’re on the roadmap.
