Your world was never this quiet. Or this dark.   In The Dark turns Minecraft Bedrock into a slow, eerie horror experience. The colors fade, a thin gray mist creeps along the ground, and when night falls… you are not alone out there.   Built for Vibrant Visuals, the Bedrock shader system.

🎨 Atmosphere

  • Desaturated, faded colors with cold shadows and slightly darker scenes
  • Gray, overcast sky with dull blood-red sunsets and pitch-black nights
  • Weaker sun and a pale, reddish moon
  • Darker shadows, so every corner feels a little less safe

🌫️ Fog & Light

  • Light volumetric fog that hugs the ground and thins out on mountaintops
  • God rays: beams of light cut through the mist when you face the sun
  • Gray distance fog that swallows the horizon
  • Glows: warm orange torches, eerie cyan soul fire, and jack o'lanterns with dynamic light

🌊 Water

  • Murky, dark water with waves and caustics (light dancing on the bottom)
  • Swamps get muddy brown water, and oceans turn deep and dark

🌲 Every biome has its own mood

  • Swamps, Dark Forests & Pale Garden: dense, suffocating fog
  • Snowy biomes: cold, pale mist
  • Deserts, Badlands & Savannas: dusty, dry haze
  • Caves: even darker, with faintly glowing spores floating in the air
  • Nether & End: grim color grading that fits the rest of the pack

🦇 Ambient Horror Effects

  • Swarms of bats flying across the night sky and through caves
  • Creeping ground mist and dust drifting around you
  • Red eyes blinking in the darkness… watching you
  • And sometimes, far away in the fog, a tall figure standing still. Blink, and it's gone. 👁️

🖼️ Extra Touches

  • Faded grass and leaves
  • Gray clouds and rain
  • Near-black bats
  • Dark, foggy title screen, so the dread starts before you even load your world

How to install

  1. Download the file below. On iOS or Android, open it from your Downloads with Minecraft; on Windows, double-click it.
  2. Minecraft imports the pack automatically. Enable it in your world’s settings under Behavior Packs or Resource Packs; an add-on usually needs both.
  3. Playing on a Realm or server? Everyone needs the same packs, and the host has to enable them.
  4. Starting a new world? Choose its seed first: the Seed Map shows villages, structures and biomes near spawn for any Bedrock seed.
