Glowing Glint (a.k.a. GG)

Is a behavior-only, lightweight dynamic lighting add-on with some extra features. No resource pack. Achievements enabled.

HOW IT WORKS?

Light is simulated by placing `minecraft:light_block` at the nearest available air block around an entity.

Just hold a light source item, and the script will do the rest.

Light blocks are only updated when you move or the light level change — idle entities cost zero overhead.

NEW IN V1.3.5

Spoiler

You can now add custom items to make them emit light via /gg:custom command (per player)

Add Custom Item:

Type the item ID manually. For example: minecraft:diamond_helmet

Add From Inventory:

Pick one item from your inventory. Items are sorted alphabetically (A–Z).

Once you select an item, you can configure the light level from 1 to 15. You can also override the light level of built-in items.

Selected items will be shown in the same /gg:custom menu.

Max is 5 custom items per player.

Flashlight (toggle) is now ON by default.

MAIN FEATURES

- Player Light: Detects items in both mainhand and offhand. If you hold two light sources, the highest level wins out.

- Burning Mobs: Any mob or player currently on fire caused by lava, fire, or enchantments (Flame & Fire Aspect) will illuminate their surroundings.

- Glow Mobs: Native emissive support for Blaze (15), Glow Squid (9), Allay (6), Warden (5), and Magma Cubes (scaling 5–15 based on size).

- Item Drops: Dropped items emit light based on their type.

- Full Dimensional Support: Works across all 3 dimensions, including underwater.

CONFIGURATION

Type /gg:config in chat to open the settings menu!

- Cheats Not Required: Works even if cheats are disabled.

- Operator Only: Only server admins can change global settings.

Don't like a specific feature? You can disable it individually here.

⚠️ COMPATIBILITY

DO NOT combine this with other dynamic lighting add-ons since they will fight over the same block coordinates and cause TPS loss.

While optimized, a massive amount of emissive mobs in one area may impact performance. Though, you can toggle "Glow Mobs" off in the config menu if needed.

You're NOT ALLOWED to redistributed this add-on without the official links (CurseForge/MCPEDL)

Requires Minecraft Bedrock 26.20

Installation

1. Download the behavior pack (.mcpack)

2. Import to Minecraft

3. Activate it in your world settings

Enjoy The Glow!

What’s new in the latest update

The author’s notes for the file uploaded .

V1.3.8 CHANGELOG

- Progressive light transition: player-held light sources now ramp up/down gradually (2 level per tick) instead of jumping instantly to full brightness.

- Expand the icon of the items or blocks in the /gg:custom menu

- Fixed water source blocks (still water) sometimes turning into flowing water after a light source moved away, causing water to drain or behave incorrectly near the player.

How to install

  1. Download the file below. On iOS or Android, open it from your Downloads with Minecraft; on Windows, double-click it.
  2. Minecraft imports the pack automatically. Enable it in your world’s settings under Behavior Packs or Resource Packs; an add-on usually needs both.
  3. Playing on a Realm or server? Everyone needs the same packs, and the host has to enable them.
  4. Starting a new world? Choose its seed first: the Seed Map shows villages, structures and biomes near spawn for any Bedrock seed.
