Skin Viewer

Type a Java username or a Bedrock gamertag, or open a skin PNG, and turn it around in 3D. Then grab it as a PNG or a Bedrock skin pack you can import in one tap.

How it works

Java usernames

Java skins are public. We ask Mojang for the account behind the name, read the skin and cape it links to, and download the texture from Mojang’s skin server. If the player uses one of the default skins, Mojang doesn’t send a file, and we tell you that.

Bedrock gamertags

Bedrock has no public skin lookup. GeyserMC lets Bedrock players join Java servers, and it keeps the last skin each of those players wore. We ask it for the player’s XUID and then that skin. Players who have never been on a Geyser server can’t be found by anyone this way, so if a site shows you one anyway, ask where it came from.

Skin files

Skins are small PNG images: 64×64 for current skins, 64×32 for very old ones (no second layer on arms and legs), and 128×128 for Bedrock HD skins. The outer layer (hat, jacket, sleeves) sits slightly above the body and can be transparent. Toggle it to see the base skin underneath.

The skin pack

The .mcpack is a zip with a manifest, a skins list and your PNG, set to the arm style you picked. Bedrock imports it when you open the file. It holds one free skin and nothing else.

FAQ

Why can't it find a Bedrock player's skin?

Bedrock skins aren't public the way Java skins are: Microsoft has no way to ask for a skin by gamertag. We use GeyserMC, which remembers the last skin of every Bedrock player who joined a server running Geyser. If that player has never done that, there is nothing to show. Character Creator and Marketplace skins come through as a flat skin file, so some details can look different.

How do I use a skin pack (.mcpack) on Bedrock?

Download the pack and open it. On Windows, double-click it. On Android or iPhone, open it from your downloads or the Files app and pick Minecraft. The game imports it, and the skin shows up in the Dressing Room under Classic Skins. On console you can't open files, so sign in on a phone or PC with the same account, import it there, and use the PNG route below if the pack doesn't appear.

How do I use the PNG instead?

On Bedrock: Dressing Room → Classic Skins → the Owned tab → Import → Choose New Skin, then pick the PNG and the arm style. On Java: open minecraft.net or the launcher's Skins tab, upload the PNG and choose Classic or Slim.

What do Classic and Slim mean?

They are the two arm widths. Classic arms are 4 pixels wide (Steve's model), Slim arms are 3 pixels wide (Alex's model). The skin file looks almost the same either way, so the game asks you which one to use. We detect it for Java players and for files, and you can switch it here before downloading the pack.

Is my skin file uploaded anywhere?

No. A file you open stays in your browser: the 3D view, the PNG and the skin pack are all made on your device. Username and gamertag look-ups go through our server to Mojang or GeyserMC, and the answer is cached for half an hour.
