How to use the Village Finder

The Village Finder shows the location and biome variant (plains, desert, savanna, taiga or snowy) of every village generated by your seed, so you can head straight to the nearest trading hub, bell or iron golem farm site.

  1. Type or paste your seed in the seed box (numbers and text seeds both work), then pick your edition and version.
  2. Villages are marked on the map automatically. Drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom, and hover an icon to see its coordinates.
  3. Click an icon to copy the coordinates or a ready-made /tp command, and tick "Completed" to keep track of the ones you have visited.
  4. Use the "Nearest" list in the sidebar to jump straight to the closest ones to spawn or to any X/Z you enter.

Questions

Why is a village missing from the map?

Villages only generate when the biome at the structure's origin allows it, and a few village attempts are cancelled by terrain in-game. The map uses the same placement and biome rules as the game, but very small villages that spawn on steep cliffs can occasionally be partially cut off.

What are abandoned (zombie) villages?

About 2% of villages generate as zombie villages, with cobwebs, mossy cobblestone and zombie villagers. The map marks these with an 'abandoned' label in the popup when the version supports them (1.10+).

Does the village finder work for Bedrock Edition?

Bedrock uses a different random placement algorithm for villages. This finder is exact for Java Edition; Bedrock support is marked on the feature chip and is only shown when the engine can compute it exactly.
