How to use the Biome Finder
The Biome Finder renders the biome layout of your seed for the Overworld, Nether and End. Pick a biome in the 'Highlight biome' selector to dim everything else and spot the nearest cherry grove, mushroom island, mangrove swamp or deep dark instantly.
- Enter your seed, edition and version, then zoom out to see the whole region around spawn.
- Use the biome legend to identify colours, or hover the map to read the biome name under the cursor.
- Choose a biome under 'Highlight biome' — everything else is dimmed so the biome you want stands out.
- Copy the coordinates from the readout, or copy a link to share the exact view.
Questions
Are Bedrock biomes the same as Java for the same seed?
Since 1.18 the Overworld biome noise is shared between editions, so for the same seed the biome layout matches. Terrain and structure placement can still differ.
Why does the map show biomes instead of terrain?
The map shows the underlying biome map at a chosen resolution, the same information the game uses to decide what generates. It is much faster than generating terrain and is what you need to find biomes and structures.
Which biomes are rarest?
Mushroom fields, ice spikes, eroded badlands, cherry groves and pale gardens are among the rarest Overworld biomes. Zoom out and highlight one to see if your seed has it nearby.
